It appears one of my ancestors Robert Mattinson was in big trouble for larceny of the person in 1869 and was imprisoned for 12 months. What is the rest of the charge please. I can only make out 'larceny of the person' but cannot decipher the rest.

I look forward to any feedback as it's our first criminal in the family!

Many thanks,
Darren

"after a prev con for felony"

So he'd had a previous conviction

Wow! That's really interesting :) do you know how to get hold of the newspaper transcript please? Do I need a special subscription with ancestry? I only have the basic package.

Hi
It'll probably be on FindMyPast or the British Newspaper Archive ,sorry but I've got neither.
Hopefully Descartes can come back to you.
The Calender of Prisoners on Ancestry says he stole £7 10 sh form Robert Hall of Penruddock 25 Sep 1869 .A warrant was put out on the 28th and he was in custody by 29th.

The previous one is 15.10.1867 larceny 6 months (it was a five pound note)

That's all it gives

I found the reports in the newspapers on FindMyPast but your best bet might be to try the British Newspaper Archive (it's the same newspaper collection) which might allow a few free downloads if you register.

What was the date of his trial and where did it take place?
