1680 Marriage Record - Latin
« on: Saturday 17 August 24 15:24 BST (UK) »
I have attached a record from the parish of Hevingham in Norfolk (Hambleton to Barwick). The Latin words/abbreviations are a stumbling block for me.
Willy, Willey, Gifford, England, Fry, Pittard (all in Kingsbury Episcopi Parish, Somerset); Forster (Warkworth, Northumberland; and Isle of Thanet, Kent); & Cartwright & Hancock (Birkenhead, Cheshire)

What is written is:

Clemens* Hambleton solut(us) et Isabella Barwick solut(a) de
Lamas nupt' p(er) indulgent(iam) Cancellar(ij) 22 Junij A(nn)o p(re)dict(o)

Clemens* Hambleton bachelor and Isabella Barwick spinster of
Lamas married by the pardon/concession of the Chancellor 22 June in the Year aforesaid

*   I think.

Notes:

solutus/soluta means unbound/free/unrestrained.  In effect, here it means bachelor and spinster.

The pardon will be because of something like consanguinity but it isn't specified here.

I also don't know exactly which official is meant by Chancellor in this context.
