Irish records help please
« on: Monday 19 August 24 21:51 BST (UK) »
Hello and thank you for allowing me to use the site.
I am trying to research the Wood side of my family and I am finding the Irish records hard to find. My 2nd great parents Isaac Wood and Jane Flannigan or (Flanigan) were listed on my great grandfather John Wood’s birth certificate 1885 as being married at Richhill Ireland on the 29th November 1866, I found a note of their marriage and it lists Isaac’s father as James Woods and Jane’s name is spelt Flanigan. I also found a census of the Wood family in Ireland from 1851
Parish Kilmore
Barony Oneilland West
Townland Mullalelish
listing Isaac as being 4 years old in 1851 it also lists his Father and Mother as James Woods and Sarah Ballantyne married in 1826 and siblings John 21, Andrew 18, Jane 15, James William 12 and Martha 8. Isaac’s death certificate list’s his mother and father as the same James Woods and Sarah Ballantyne but drops the ‘s’ from his name.
My great grandfather John dropped the s from his name on his marriage certificate 1907 but his parents are listed as Isaac Woods and Sarah Woods (Ballantyne) and his birth certificate lists John Woods.
I cannot find any records for Isaac’s or Jane’s birth or their parents in the Irish records so I can’t go any further back than 1826. I would be grateful if anyone could help with how to proceed my search.
Thank you in advance

The pre-1877 records for the CofI parish of Richhill are lost. So there may be no ability to go further back than OP has already gone in that parish.

That said, the baptisms of some of the Isaac's siblings are recorded in the CofI parish of Kilmore, in townland of Mullaleish.
Also possible baptisms for James in 1810 and 1812.

Sarah Ballantyne baptized Mullaleish 1817

I would refer OP to RootsIreland for details.

Possible baptism for Robert Flanigan, also in Kilmore CofI, in 1806.
