I am transcribing an epitaph from a gravestone in Halifax, Yorkshire.
Edward Greenwood L.D.S.I.,
son of the above,
born April 10th 1842;
died March 13th 1888.
Does anyone recognise the abbreviation L.D.S.I. ?
Surname interests:
Huntingdon: Bull / Shelford
Rotherham: Andrews / Steel
Easingwold: Snowball / Potter

In the Probate Calendar Edward Greenwood of Halifax who died 13 Mar 1888 is described as a Dentist. I can only find LDS - License in Dental Surgery - without the I.

I agree with both Chrstine53 and heywood - Dentist
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids. They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

The "I" signifies the Irish College of Surgeons.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Dentistry looks most likely.
