Cause of Death 1880

Apologies for the state of the attached file - I tried to clean it as best as I could but it's still partly illegible to me.
The clip is from the death register of my 3x great-uncle John Yuill who died, I believe on 05/07/1880.
All I can decipher from the cause of death is, I think, 'some years' and '6 months' but as for the rest...
I'm not expecting much from this document but any help will be appreciated.

Many thanks for responding - I don't know how you managed it but I believe you're correct in both causes.
I don't understand the 'after' but it certainly looks like that now that you mentioned it!
You're the only one to respond which shows me how difficult this one was!
