John Anderson BARSTOW East India Company Bengal
« on: Sunday 08 September 24 20:37 BST (UK) »

Hello,

I am descended from John Anderson BARSTOW (1795-1863) and would like to get in contact with anyone who is also descended from John Anderson Barstow who was born in Kelso in the Borders region.  I know he had a brother Charles Murray Barstow who lived in Edinburgh.

Our branch of the family emigrated to Australia in the mid-1800s, and I am trying to find out more about who John Anderson Barstow was.  I know that he went to India as a cadet, and died there, but would like to fill in the picture a bit more.

Am happy to share what little information I have.  I am hoping that there is surviving family in Edinburgh or the Borders area who may know more about him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

His Father Thomas, mother was Jane  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JWWQ-VXZ
Jane Mitchelson...url was attached to a tree with family listed...The same baptism is also posted again - but as taking place in India. (Perhaps was only there within his military file.)

They don't have brother Charles Murray Barstow listed b 1804...Earldoms Gengfall,Roxburghshire.
& the Geni Tree hasn't got sistar Grace Barstow b. 1792
Ancestry tree-bit shows one child b. out of wedlock in India...and 5 others with Isabella Burn who is younger than his first child.
