Heinz Schaub of Sissach, Basle, Switzerland
« on: Tuesday 17 September 24 10:48 BST (UK) »
My daughter did a DNA test with My23&me and I did one with Ancestry.  A very curious connection appears with a Schaub in USA who changed his surname to Walker.  In the 1960s our family knew a Heinz Schaub from Basle who hitch-hiked around Scotland and stayed with us for a few days and again in later years.  I've become suspicious of the circumstances of his visit, way too much of a co-incidence, I suspect he may have incorporated an ancestral connection to investigate whilst he was hiking around Britain.  Perhaps several generations back there would be a DNA connection to the Nelson or Gooch or Tubby families of Norfolk, England.   Anybody any ideas how to find out more ... I've Googled Schaub of Sissach and there's a lot of them.  regards, Ian

If you posted the cM values of the Schaub match that will help in providing suggestions.

Use DNA Painter and DNA-Sci to see the relationship probabilities and build a tree back from them.

Look at the DNA Matches and incorporate them in the tree, subscribing to Pro Tools in Ancestry could help in narrowing down the shared matches actual relationship.

Then upload the gedcom to DNA Painter’s WATO tool and follow its instructions to see likely relationships and the numerical probabilities of each available option.

Uploading DNA to Gedmatch & My Heritage can yield more DNA matches and the tools on these site can prove useful.
