MALSBURYs of Moreton Pinkney
« on: Friday 27 September 24 17:02 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to verify information about # who I thought were my 5th great grandparents
John MAULSBURY and Hannah HIGGINSON who married 24 Sep 1780

I have lots of information about their daughters Charlotte MALSBURY 1797 m James GARDNER+ Phyllis  1798 m Benjamin TALBOT

Hannah died in  1834 Moreton pinkney Northamptonshire age 83

I have a possible baptism for John in 1759 parents John + Susannah MAULSBURY
+ Same year for Hannah in Norton by Daventry parents Joseph + Susannah
HIGGINSON

I'm trying to find out if they had a daughter Ann 1781 m WAKELIN
+ Sons Thomas 1790 + John 1800
# not the one on many people's trees transported to Australia
# the correct John was born Moreton pinkney 1793

Not much information is given on baptisms which I find and there are lots of spelling variations

I think it likely that they would have children named after themselves or their parents and wonder why there would be a decade without children if Charlotte and Phyllis were the only ones

Phyllis+ her Talbot family had criminal
Records

Neither they or there husband's signed names on marriage banns left mark

There is a DNA connection to Thomas MALSBURY who was a calf dealer in 1841

I've found a John who was also a calf dealer in 1841 & 1861

Who seems a good candidate for eldest son
 1841 age 45 with wife Annis 25

But 1793 babtism suggests base born son oh Hannah Malsbury

Traced Ann Wakelin as being a farmers widow in 1851 in Broughton Northamptonshire
In 1841 in Croughton with John WAKELIN age 30 Edward 25

I don't know professions of her parents

Phyllis malsbury TALBOT was poor but an excellent lace maker according to family trees

The Northants Baptism, along with Marriage and Burial, Indexes are on CD and were compiled some 20+ years ago by a couple of Northamptonshire researchers. I have most of the CDs, if that's of use.
The indexes were compiled from the church records at Northamptonshire Record Office ........ and I assume that specific entry was listed in the Bishops Transcripts but not available in the Baptism Register.

I wonder if there is something unusual about the marriage of Charlotte malsbury to James Gardener

There seems to be crossing out
Possibly to replace the witness names in a space that was originally by officiant .

Also something written about "arranged by
But I can't make it out

Ancestry shows that record as being in the Parish Register, along with others on the same page where the signatures of the witnesses have been put in the wrong place. Ancestry also shows the record of the same marriage in the Bishops Transcripts, this time correctly written.

Thanks sugar bakers also what looks like arranged by is actually the end of the word solemnized by

There was a baptism of an earlier baby Ann to John + Hannah in 1881
It makes sense that they would name first daughter with a variation of their mother's names .

I use ancestry mostly
