Hi,
Welcome :)
I expect someone on here can give you some idea of who to contact in Manchester about the grave.
I expect you have found the plan which shows you where GG R/C (attached)is situated?
Possibly a long way round but I wonder if the graves are in numerical order you might be able to narrow the area down ( I think it is a big area!)
Have found two plots GG Roman Catholic   2003 and 2033  names Leavy and Waldron.
Photo of plot 2003  gravestone perhaps you could search for that, it is fairly distinctive.
Plot 2033 has a photo but it is not a gravestone, just a small metal flower holder.

Like I say there might be a much easier way!

If you need some help accessing the photos let me know.

The Map is very useful and additionally many graves have either a plaque orcare embossed with the plot number hence as long as you know which section is where they are buried then finding the plot is fairly simple.

We visited the Library in st Peter’s Square and looked up the actual plots before we went to Southern.

We did not have a map when we went butt he staff there were brilliant, they gave us directions, showed us where the graves were and five mi utes later they came to make sure we found them OK.

The staff were equally as helpul at the nearby Crematorium.

Some years ago, I was wandering around southern cemetery - looking for my grandmother’s grave - when one of the cemetery workmen asked if he could help. I thanked him but said I knew roughly where it was. He said that they are often asked where a particular grave is but can’t help because there are 35,000 graves in the cemetery. He said that the best option was to visit the office on Barlow Moor Road who will be able to direct you.
