If William was previously married in Ireland it is quite easy to look up on
Irishgenealogy.ie
If you search for marriages between, say 1864 and 1883, you will see that there are over a 100 such marriages. You could go thru them one by one, but even then the information provided by OP will probably lead to multiple candidates.
To really identify if he was married in Ireland requires some better idea of where he was from, and also his religion.

Thank you very much for the help, Where he is from exactly is still unknown to me, but I know for a fact he was Protestant, and I would hazard to say he was an Anglican, as both his marriages that I could find were Church of Scotland.

If I expand the date range to 1862 to 1883 (just to be safe), and use "exact match,"
then I see 127 marriages for a William Reid in Ireland in this period. If OP has the time to go through these one-by-one, then can down-select using father's name - also William - and denomination in which the marriage was performed. The original registrations are available online, for free on the site I already mentioned.

Assuming this throws up several candidates, OP can then look for a death of the wife, in Ireland and/or Scotland, and for any children.

When he married wife #3, William was working as a stoker on a steam ship. So he may have come from a port city in Ireland, like Belfast.

Hi,

Well I learn something everyday, I didn't know about these  :)

http://censussearchforms.nationalarchives.ie/search/cs/home.jsp

I wonder if this could be a brother with his mother and father? Transcribed as Margaret COLHRANE but I think it looks like COCHRANE,

Note that Margaret seems to have the nickname Peggy.

Daisy

Informant was daughter-in-law Sarah Reid.
Note: Castleroe townland marches Kilmaconnell townland (1851 location)

Have more on the family, including William's baptism, which I will type out and post soon.

From the Valuation Revision Book (1860-1863) it looks like William Reid left Kilmaconnell c1862. He was tenant of a house & small garden rented from Hugh McDonnell.

The son John REID (b. 1841) married in 1863 Greenock (Renfrew) to Mary LOVE
He died in Greenock in 1876.

EDIT TO ADD
There must have also been a son named James REID

He married Eliza DUNLOP in 1854 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1854/09467/5430696.pdf

Possibly a second marriage at some point to Sarah MCKAY., with children born 1876, 78, …….
