Lots of precious memories Jeff, like “ The Bank of Happiness” I withdraw big sums from regularly, and unlike an ordinary bank the capital sum does not decrease.

Take care as your Jane would want and as you would have wanted her to .
Very best wishes .
Viktoria.

Nicely said Viktoria, and my good wishes also to you Jeff and your family, agree time of year when family especially so much in our thoughts and memories of those no longer with us.

Right decision too I think Viktoria for your plans to not travel this time and hopefully baby and her family will get to visit you before too long.

Wish all well, sorry to read in recent weeks of unexpected hospital visits and health issues, hopefully your young grandson has bounced back a bit Caroline post surgery in time for Christmas.

Receiving cards is sometimes rather sad, as one hears of the loss of old friends or their partners.  Our post seems to come in bunches.  None yesterday, eleven today.  The decorations are all up apart from some outside lights, which are waiting for my husband to recover from a really nasty cough and cold.  Cards are posted, cake is iced, mince pies have been baked for the family  in vast quantities.  How has all this happened in such good time?  What have I missed?  I'm rather worried.
Party tonight at neighbours and former neighbours coming for a celebratory afternoon tea on Monday.  (they don't like going out at night and the village is rather dark in places.  Concert tomorrow night in the village church, so we are all practising like mad.
Keep safe, everyone and avoid those coughs and colds if you can.  To those missing their loved ones at this time I send sincere sympathy.  Your friends nearby and on RootsChat are thinking of you and send you their love.

In many ways, radstockjeff, Christmas - when everyone is often so determinedly "Being jolly", can be the worst time, when you have lost someone. It's such a time when you recall memories of past years, and their presence. As others on here have said, many here feel the same way, and all are with you in gentle care, compassion and companionship.

I had quite a selection. There were a couple of CDs with Christmas music songs but not the usual ones. We ranged from Andrea Bocelli to Salvation Army, to Alexander Armstrong, to Wells Cathedral Choir and a couple of CDs of groups which I had not heard of before- Dellands Voices Music for Christmas and a Canadian Group The Elora Festival  Singers with a particular favourite of ours ,John Rutter's What Sweeter Music.  rj

Thanks Mare, he’s back at school and taking exams at tge moment… when asked he said it was like he’d not had it done! How wonderful to recover so quickly! Only sport playing to wait until after Christmas.

Like others Jeff, thoughts are with you… the first in all events are always hard after a loss… you clearly have a wonderfully caring family and it’s definitely a boost when you can see and chat to family who live far away.

Very wise decision Viktoria not to travel…. Always difficult when going from a cosy home to one that’s a bit more of a challenge. Sure you’ll enjoy your Christmas with your son and wife.

Final cards in the village will go tomorrow at the collection point when they’re all collected together and distributed. All decorations up… gone a bit extra this year as the family are up on the 28th… first time in about 10/11 years as we always go to them… will make a change from zipping up and down the A1 to London then to Brighton and home!
Christmas Day with our friends up the lane behind us… different again but looking fwd to it.
Can’t bear all this rushing around shopping, too many people, too much stuff in the shops and sooo much food in the supermarkets it’s like stock piling for a siege!
Dinner party tomorrow with friends so lots-of cooking tomorrow, better get some sleep!
Take care all
