Hi all now the 1921 as hit ancestry I went digging my grandparents for no other reason than wanting to see their earliest census appearance. Whilst doing this i noted my great grandfather was listed as an inmate and this was the address given on the title page. Now as My great Grandfather is listed as a voter on the electoral roll in Doncaster and his remaining child (my grandfather) and his wife are in the property I expected them to be he as ended up in this place. I wonder if the prison at this time was also called the sanitorium because at the end of these schedules there are children listed as patients.
There is no mention of TB having been an infliction my great grandparents suffered with. He was an underground miner so I guess if it is a hospital he could be suffering with lung problems but that doesnt seem likely. TB is also unlikely because there were a couple of sanatoriums in Doncaster one not too far from their address. There is no way it would be for reasons of destitution as well because he was originally from Clay Cross in Derbyshire and if he was going to be sent anywhere id expect that,
DOes anyone know if the admission records for this sanatorium are extatnt and if they are would they be at Hull archives
