I have come across Barlinnie prison records with the crime being recorded as Theft & P C.
Wondering what the P C stands for?
McIntyre/Fraser/McLachlan/Lister/Ferguson/Murray/Muir/Blackwood/Hutchison/Cochrane/Craig/Calderwood/McIntosh/Collie/Dott

Possibly Previous Convictions which would move the original crime to a higher level to be dealt with. (After a certain number of convicions for theft an individual was tagged as "A Known Thief" - which carried limitations and implications for them)

Previous conviction is probably correct as he had another spell in jail for Theft & P Cs.

Just a thought, could it be PL as in Petty Larceny? Has it been transcribed wrongly?
