You two are amazing, oldohiohome and Sandra. With regard to Benjamin Franklin Watterson, I see that his death notice says that he is buried in Whitehaven. On August 28, 1945, there is an application for a headstone for a Benjamin Watterson, date of death, February 2, 1944, and the cemetery is given as Highland Park. The application says it is for the unmarked grave of a veteran. Perhaps the military had him moved.
I was amazed to learn that Irene had been married before, at least I think it was before, since she was divorced in 1941 and was married to Benjamin before his death in 1944. I have never found a marriage record for Benjamin and Irene.. When Benjamin registered for the draft in 1942 he gives his sister Virginia Spencer as his next of kin not his mother or his wife. I have just looked back at the 1940 census for Cleveland, which has Benjamin and Irene together, says married, and that would be before her divorce in 1941. So Irene must’ve deserted George for Benjamin. I have to wonder now if there IS a marriage record for Benjamin and Irene.
Thank you, oldohiohome for the information about Robert Gorry, husband of Margaret Jane Watterson. I do not have this couple on my tree so I will have to look for them. You are so good at finding new information.
