Marriage of Thomas Pierce and Elizabeth Jones
« on: Thursday 30 January 25 09:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to find additional information on the marriage of Thomas Pierce and Elizabeth Jones.  I appreciate the best option would be to buy the certificate but wondering whether anybody has got it already.  The marriage was in the Festinoig Registration District in June 1882. The aim being to find out who their fathers are.

I have located the family on the 1891 Census living at Penmorfa and it lists Thomas as aged 36 and born in Llanystumdwy and his wife Elizabeth is aged 36 and born Pistyll nefyn.  I can find the family on the 1901 and 1911 census, I have also been able to find him on the 1881 as a slate quarryman but unable to find any further information going back on either Thomas or Elizabeth's parents.  I am keeping my fingers crossed someone else might have.  Thank you

Have you looked to see if anybody has a tree on Ancestry or checked the Surname Interests board to see if anybody else is researching the family?

Scroll to bottom of page - link is under TOOLS

Have you looked for Thomas on earlier censuses 1861 -1881

www.freebmd.org.uk has a birth in June qtr 1856 Carnarvon for a Thomas Pierce.  GRO online shows mmn Roberts

Possible 1871 for him - parents William & Jane.  William was a quarryman but suspect you may need to buy the marriage cert to be certain

Haven't found him on the 1861 or 1871 as cannot match his place of birth (taken from the 1881 and 1891, 1901 and 1911) which I have found.

Thank you for the information unfortunately the Thomas above is still living with his family in 1881  and we already have a Thomas not on his own on the 1881 so they do not match.  Looks like further research for me.

I'm no getting very far, but in my newspaper researches I have found out that Thomas was a keen poultryman and regulalry won prizes in the Porthmadoc, Cricieth and Lleyn and Eifionydd shows!

There's a brief report of his death in 1918, but none of the helpful family background or a funeral report

One small clue - he is at least once referred to as Thomas Pierce jnr in show reports - possibly has a father of the same name?
