Lydia VERNON Birmingham born ca 1780
« on: Tuesday 04 February 25 10:48 GMT (UK) »
Lydia VERNON remarried to Edward Adkins in 1803

13 Nov 1803 by licence

Edward Adkins, widower, of this parish and Lydia Vernon, widow, of St Martins in Birmingham
Witnesses were Lydia Adkins and William Roberts
All signed the register

Lydia had 6 children with Edward born 1805 to 1817 so was presumably born ca 1780
I can't find an unambiguous burial for her so am unsure of her age.

What was Lydia's maiden name?
Two possibilities are Shaw, 1795 marriage in Walsall, or Yardley, 1800 in Wolverhampton but were there others?

Good afternoon.
No I can't see any other marriages.
And if the Yardley marriage is out that only leaves the one to George Vernon by Lydia Shaw.
George is given as a soldier so plenty of chances for an early death there.
Witnesses Tracy Shaw (her sister)  and Thomas Allsop (probably the brother in law)

Lydia Shaw bapt 13.5.1776 d of John and Jane Shaw at Walsall
Children
Elizabeth 10.8.1766,John 6.6.1768,William 9.6.1770 ,Thomas 12.10.1772,Lydia 19.3.1774 ,Lydia 13.5.1776,Tracy 20.6. 1778 ,Charles 26.9.1780 ,James 14.10. 1783.

John woolcomber of Walsall made a Will but he doesn't mention his daughter Lydia .11.12.1809 Burial 31st Dec 1809 Wife Jane buried 11.3.1804 so she isn't mentioned either.
Grandaughter Mary Ann Vernon £50 at 21
b in law William Thomas of Stanton Burton on trent wearing apparel
Ann Thomas sister £5
granddaughter Tracy Shaw £40 at 21
John Shaw £40
Francis Speer £8 but no idea who he is
Elizabeth Allsop daughter remaining monies.

So what happened to Lydia ? No sign of her unless she is your one.

ps John Shaw married Jane Cockson by licence at Loughborough 2.4.1763.He was a wool comber 25 of L and she was 23 of Ashby de la Zouch.

It all seems to fit ,except for her age being a couple of years out when she died but it was a long time latter and who was telling the Vicar?
