Quite a few of the Hood line from James & Sarah Hood nee Arundel, (James Hood & Sarah Arundel, both born Selby, Yorkshire), did follow their parents to Derby and Derbyshire it seemed and they also tended to reuse naming sequences too.
By the way Sarah Arundel was illegitimate and her Father looks to be John Wilkinson, (put forward by Rootschatters, which seems to agree, with Census and the naming of John Wilkinson Hood by James Hood & Sarah Arundel).
My knowledge of this huge family forward from James & Sarah Hood, who married at Selby, Yorkshire, in 1851, is not exhaustive.
My interest in this 1886 marriage, was originally to find who was present as witnesses (for family clues), then suddenly, I seemed to have two William Russell Hood, both born around 1860, because this 1886 marriage at South Shields does not have James Hood, as his Father (image 1st Thread Post).
Primarily, most of my threads on Rootschat have been trying to prove a line back from the George Hood & Sarah Russell, 1815 Selby, Yorkshire, Marriage.
However, the early naming sequences of James Hood & Sarah Hood, nee Arundel's children were of interest (I felt in going backward):-
Mary Ellen Hood b Selby 1853
Elizabeth Cook Hood b Selby 1854
Adeline Hood b Selby 1855
Sarah Hood b Selby 1856
John Wilkinson Hood b Selby 1858
William Russell Hood b Selby 1860, Registered 1861
James Alfred Hood b Sunderland 1863
George Arundel Hood b 1866 Selby
Bernard Pearson Hood b 1870 Scarborough.
The middle name Russell, comes from the 1815 Selby, Yorkshire, Marriage, George Hood & Sarah Russell.
My LineMy line backward goes back to the same George Hood & Sarah Russell, who married 1815 at Selby (the common ancestor couple) who had five Sons and I stem from, John Hood of Selby, who married Sarah Richardson, at Sculcoates in 1846.
