Birth betwenn 1910 and 1917
« on: Friday 13 August 04 22:28 BST (UK) »
Can some kind soul please search the GRO birth indexes between 1910 and 1917 for entries where the childs surname was FORDHAM and the mothers name is given as JURY.

This would help me tremendously.

They should be available at any large-ish reference library. (Check your local government website's link to libraries to confirm).

I don't think that there is a free-of-charge source online.

Then try somewhere like bmdindex.co.uk or 1837online . It should work out fairly cheap, given the relatively uncommon names.

Thanks Pauline, bmdindex.co.uk is a site I haven't heard of. I'll have a look.

Does anyone know who is behind BMDIndex. Very strange that they don't way on their site and don't give any contact details at all. I know the site keeps referring to The Genealogist if you try to buy something, but are they just taking payment or do they own it?

I won't deal with a website that isn't clear about who they are.

S&N Genealogy Supplies run www.BMDindex.co.uk and www.TheGenealogist.co.uk and have dedicated staff to handle any queries. The BMD site has featured in several comparative reviews which found it to be the best value and best featured BMD site.

Family History Monthly June 2005 issue gave this site 95%

Your Family Tree September 2005 issue compares all the birth, marriage and death records (BMD) sites and rates this one as the best value! It was awarded 5 stars in every category - first time/light user, general researcher and heavy user - no other site achieved 5 stars in any category.

S&N was founded in 1992 and is run by myself and my wife as we are keen genealogists.
