LADE/LADD Family - Kent/Sussex
« on: Saturday 24 September 05 17:23 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would be extremely grateful for any information on the Ladd/Lade family from Kent & Sussex.  The furthest I have gone back to is:  Richard Ladd/Lade born around 1675 - he married Eliza Crittendon in 1696 in Mayfield, Sussex but I think that Richard may have been born in Lympne, Kent.

They had three children:  John, Richard and Mary - John was born in Lympne, Kent.

I would love to know anything about the Ladd/Lade surname origins.

Thanks

Lisa Lade
Bedingham - Cambridgeshire
Evans, Walker, Grieve - London
Carter - Hertfordshire & London
Sage - Somerset & Gloucestershire
Lade - Sussex & Kent
Gorham - Suffolk

Hi I am also researching the Lade family from Kent/Sussex my 5th Grt grandmother was Ann Lade baptised 1746 Barham Kent she then moved to Warbleton Sussex probably with the rest of the family. She was the daughter of James Lade.
The family are littered throughout the pages of The Baronetages of England. Below is a link to an accurate pedigree not all names a listed.                                            https://books.google.co.nz/books?id=okhFAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA247&dq=lade+of+kent&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CEAQ6AEwBmoVChMIzqb5k7e-yAIVQiimCh1KlwI3#v=onepage&q=lade%20of%20kent&f=false

Good evening,

I have a Jane Lade in my family tree, she was the first wife of Thomas Bennett Tedham. I am descended from his second wife but would like to know more about his first family.

I know my Grandfather was close to one of the younger half sisters but not sure which one.

I would love to know if you are part of this family.

Hi not sure which family line your Jane is from I haven't come across anyone by that name. Was your family from Warbleton or Mayfield Sussex or Barham Kent? I have mainly been working on the earlier Lades who initial name was Ladd

Hi do you have any record of Ann Lade born Barham Kent 1746 baptism says she is the daughter of James. Can't find a baptism for James in Kent or Warbleton can't find a mother for Ann either, but there is a James who died in Warbleton 1782 not sure if he is her father or grandfather the time fits! Ann was married at Warbleton.

Good evening Lisa and Trish,

Many thanks for the info, the family are indeed from the Warbleton area. I don't actually have anything on the first marriage apart from what my cousin researched. That was all passed to and verified by our genealogy expert. The other Grandfather to my Grandsons.

He only really does the main line back and doesn't go sideways a lot but here is what we have; http://www.devon-mitchells.co.uk/getperson.php?personID=I3169&tree=Torrington1.

His speciality is the Mitchells as you will see if you look further than this page. My Grandfather was Ernest Tedham.

Added; sorry, that link doesn't work, try this one; http://www.devon-mitchells.co.uk/index.php
you the need to click on surnames, L on the alphabet bar, then Lade there is only one. John

Hi All

Just researching Ladds from Elham in Kent and found this link ... I seem to have started a lot earlier than others with an Affra Ladd being married to William Hogben in 1571.  After that I go back five generations to a John Ladde born circa 1400.

Hope this is some help?

John
