Juddee, regarding the yellow... does the image posted here look like the original?  This looks like the scanner has altered the image.  Often, scanner software has "automatic" and "advanced" settings for scanning.  I find that letting the scanner "automatically" adjust as it scans, can reek havoc on these older images. Because so many old images have a loss of contrast, automatic adjustments are too harsh, causing blown highlights and loss of detail in the shadows. I usually scan with no adjustments, so that I can tweak the image later in a photo editor.

Another very difficult one this. Removing colour banding while preserving any texture is a nightmare so I thought it looked nice as a small b&w cameo.

Hi everyone

I looked at the original with a magnifying glass and it is exactly the same as the image posted.  I can't work out if this is the original photo or a copy of a photo gone bad though.

But I will appreciate greatly any improvement that is carried out and I am thrilled with all the results so far.

I am an absolute dummy where these things are concerned and I hope I'm not wearing my welcome out with my many requests on this board  :-\ :-\

Thanks once again for all your help and expertise

Cheers  Juddee

Keep 'em coming Juddee  ;D
As you can see there is no lack of people always ready to help out.
As for the weird colouration, it looks like scanning or copying anomalies to me.  No original photograph will deteriorate in that manner.  So I think you have some kind of copy.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply...thinking about it I'm sure you are right about it being a copy.

Having no knowledge about photography other than pointing and shooting a camera I thought I'd ask the experts  ;D ;D

And I have a couple more photos that need some loving attention  ;D ;D

Cheers  Juddee
