Thank you Meliora, I have been trying to get this info for soooo long...

That is my Helen's marriage to Samuel and subsequent 1851 census.
On the 1841 does it have James as head of house and the others as his children or does it say that any of them are daughter in law or grandaughter. Trying to work out if James is Helen's father or grandfather.

Hello, Nellie,

The 1841 census does not give any details as to head of house or marital status like the later censues, so my guess is that James if the grandfather & Frances is a widow.

Bear in mind that adult ages are rounded down to the nearest 5 so James could be 76 to 79 & Frances 55 to 59

If you obtained the marriage cert for Helen/Ellen Loclhart to Samuel Emmett this will give you her father's name with perhaps desc'd, tho' that was not always stated.

Looking for information concerning Ellen / Helen Lockhart, born about 1816, don't know where.

She appeared out of nowhere and married James Clezie, a Scottish immigrant, at Troy, New York, June 1841. 

Just noticed the coincidence of names on this message board.  If the dates and places I've mentioned match anyone's information, I'd appreciate hearing from you.  Thanks!
