Dear Peter,My great/greatgrandfather JohnKelly married in Castleford Yorkshire 1853. On the Marriage Certificate Grooms Fathers name Matthew Kelly. John was 20 yrs of age when he was married.I  presumed Matthew to be at-least 40 plus. When i got John Kelly in 1851 census he has Warrington, Lancashire as his place of birth.. I have looked on the IGI and found a Matthew Kelly married to a Bridget Ryon.Warrington.Which i have not been able to follow up as yet. I am sorry i have no other information other than that.

Hi Vi

I have searched through the 1851 without finding a Matthew Kell(e)y, there are a few Bridgets but none over 34 years old.

I did see in the Cheshire BMD a death for a Matthew Kelly in Warrington 1847. http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/

Unfortunatly there is no name index for the 1841 so its to long a search for me to go through the lot.

The Matthew that died may have an address on his death certificate, I would be willing to search that out.

regards

peterbennett

Dear Peter,Thank you very much for trying for me.1853.Matthew would still be alive. As stated on the Marriage Certificate.[ When i have sent for other certificates it states if the Father was deceased] I have tried looking up the census on line.So i know how hard it would be to find him. I thank you,for your help. Matthew could well have moved to another area too.As i have found other members of my family tree, have done.Especially working in the Glass Making industry. Cheers Peter, I will just have to put Matthew Kelly on hold for now. Vi

Hi Vi  :)

It is important to remember that when a couple were asked for details of fathers name and occupation they were not asked if he was alive or not,I have found that if it says deceased then he will be dead, if it say's nothing it just means the question was not asked.

Please do not assume he was alive.  :-\

Hi Vi

What I meant was that if you obtained an address from the death certificate I could use it to find him, unfortunatly I can't get details of BMD certificates without buying one.

sorry if I didn't make what I was trying to say very clear  :-[
