Two Marriages

I found the Birth of a family member with parents listed as John Lofthouse and Elizabeth. I then found two marriages both in the same town different years one to Elizabeth Graeves, one to Elizabeth Teale. Can anyone help, how do you find wich is the correct parents. The birth is in 1829 Yokshire.

What is the source of the marrige information you have?

Is it primary,  secondary or questionable?  I ask as we have had discussions here lately about the reliability of some sources of records,  and it is important to understand the source to know how reliable it is.

Dear Kazza, The information was from the IGI. I have also found that there birth dates seem to be ten years different from the 1881 and 1901 census.

I suspected the IGI may be the source of your records.  It should only really be used as a finding-aid,  you should regard this data as questionable and go back to the original sources,  or as close as you can get,  to be sure.
