1851 lookup request - East Stonehouse
« on: Sunday 09 October 05 09:38 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help

I'm looking for the 1851 census for 26 Edgecombe Street, E Stonehouse,
hoping to find Mary Jane Holman or her father William (cabinet maker).

Mary Jane was born 1841 in Exeter and married in 1860 from this address. I can't find her in 1861 either but her husband James Hall was found to be in barracks at Aldershot.

many thanks for your time
Mark

Jericho

unfortunately not,

The Mary Jane you have found is a possibility though. They are a pretty elusive family. I've spent years tracking down my G-G-Grandfather James Hall, who married Mary Jane in 1860 whilst in the army at Raglan barracks, hence the address. But a year later he's back in Aldershot in the 1861 census, 3 months before his discharge. Where Mary went i don't know, she wasn't at the address given in 1861 and no sign of her father either.

What database are you using to provide all this wonderful information?
regards
Mark

The only William living in East Stonehouse

William Holeman Head 26 Police Constable Rwvy Stoke Devon
Sarah Holman Wife 24 Plymouth Dev

Adelaide Street
East Stonehouse Dev
HO/107/1880 F 277 P 10

I think that they may just be a bit young for a 9 year old, no Holman at the address you gave infact it does not show up on my census at all. Will PM you.
