Hya Cammy, stupid me! Why didn't I check the 1851 census! I can still find no births for any of Jean/Janes's children and it's so frustrating. DOES ANYONE HAVE ACCESS TO THE CARNWATH PARISH RECORD? I would have thought that their births would have to be recorded or noted somewhere even though I know that previous to 1855 it was not compulsory to register births but there was always a baptism record. Very frustrated. By the way I can't find a death certificate for Jean/Jane Bryce aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!
Thanks for pointing out the L for a Q.

I think James Blair had many 'friends'
All below in Carnwath unless otherwise stated

1820 Maria Blair born to J B and Janet Fairlie
1841 Janet Fairlie 45 dressmaker
1841 Maria Blair  20 **

1823 William Blair born to J B and Isobel Steel *
1841 Isobel Steel 35  ( in Avondale )
1851 William Steel 27 + Mary Ann 22 sister

1824 James Blair born to J B and Margaret Justin

1825 Agnes Blair born to J B and Isobel Steel  * ( in Lanark ) ( Agnes is my gg-granny )
1827 Mary Ann born to J B and Isobel Steel

1831 J B married Helen Smith
1832 James Blair born Lanark
1833 Joseph born
1835 Jean born Carluke
1838 John born Carluke
1841 J B 40, Ellen Smith (= Helen) 35, Annie 15, James 8, Joseph 6, Jane 5, John 4, Maria 20 **
( is Annie = Mary Ann )( and Jane = Jean )
1843 Helen born

I need help too - any errors - any more info

Agnes above became my gg-granny. She married Isaac Hutchison, Their son John was born a MacDonald. Two years later when Isaac married Agnes John became a 'Hutchison'. Which adds to my non-surprise about J B's activity

The relationships for the 1851 census ( the one in a 'block' ) are
1851 Forth, Carnwath
( all  born Carnwath except wife )
John Bryce             61 pauper and miner
Christina Bryce      53  wife born Douglas
Jane Bryce              31  dau outdoor labourer
Christina Gilchrist  15  g-dau outdoor labourer
James Queen        12  g-son miner
Mary Jane Blair       7  g-dau
Jane Blair                5  g-dau
Joseph Blair            1  g-son
Andrew Wishart      1  g-son

There are 2 further Queens in Carnwath in 1851 - 2 kiddies, gchildren with a family Young

But there are several more Queens in Bathgate/Whitburn
Now strangely, The MacDonald I mentioned above came from Bathgate - my best guess is that he was a carter
Does the 1861 census with the one Queen tell what his occupation was, please?

[ and, again I think, that that sister...…. is sisterilligit ]
