Hi Tanya i don't have it yet but i am going to order it now as i wont be able to move on if i don't. all i know is in 1903 she lived in Sutton in ashfield 10 john street, and that my Gran was born.  but she was the 3 child so working back she must have had a child out of wedlock ? as they say the plot thickens hey.
Thank Wendi
Also i do appreciate all the help i get

I was asking about the 1891 census entry ;)

Here we' go:
RG12/2652 16 25
Sutton in Ashfield
Duke Street
Charles Banner, head, 49, Framework knitter
Sarah A, wife, 49
John, son, 14, Bricklayer's labourer
Ada, dau, 10, scholar
Samuel, son, 6, scholar

Seems indeed strange that she doesn't mention her father. Let us know when you get the certificate!

I think I have found the family in 1871
(which you may already have)
RG10/3468 15 23
Sutton in Ashfield

Sarah Ann Sills, head, unm, 29, Seamer, b. Sutton
Ann, dau, 7, b. do.
William, son, 2, b. do.
Harriett Ellen, dau, 3 ms, b. do.
+ lodger/boarders

Perhaps Sarah Ann was already pregnant with Ada when she met Charles, and that's why she also goes under the name Sills (although she was registered as a Banner  ???

Hi Wendi,

Thanks for your PM with the follow up.

Really strange she was born a Banner and then changed to Sills although not only her father was still alive but living with her!!

Perhaps she was indeed born in this marriage but found out at some moment or another that she wasn't really his daughter? I can't see any other explanation for the moment.

One more mystery...
