My KITCHER brickwall
« on: Friday 20 August 04 14:02 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please help me with my KITCHER brickwall? If you have read my other post (attached to the "Friend or Foe Poll") you will know that I am having trouble breaking down a brick wall. My frustation with this is compounded by the fact that I a distant cousin, who has the ability to help me, is refusing to share her info.

I am trying to find the marriage of William KITCHER to Elizabeth ? in Hampshire, (Boldre, Sway, New Forset area) about 1815 +/- 5 years.

From the the 1851 census I know that William was born in roughly 1790 in Boldre. He and Elizabeth had at least two children: William born 1821 and my ancestor Timothy born 1834. Elizabeth had died sometime before the 1851 census.

If anyone can help, offer any suggestions, anything at all, I would be SO greatful. This is my direct line and my dad would be so happy if I could get a bit further back with it.

Hi Amy,
The date is way out on this I know, but maybe he fits into your family somewhere, so just in case it may come in useful at some time thought you may like to see it. (if you do not have it already!)
Kind Regards, Frances

Try not to be too fed up with your distant cousin not wanting to share his / her information with you. It is very infuriating >:( however a true family historian will always be eager to share the information they have, however much it has been at cost to them (finanically or time spent) simply due to the fact that the history has a much better chance of suriving down the ages. As long as all the information you gain from someone is sourced then I don't see the problem.

 :D

I hope you break down those walls soon ;)

Thanks for your help. I should add that quite often, the further back you go, the name KITCHER also appears as KITTIER.

Hi Amy
Just a thought but why are you restricting your search for a marriage to 1815 + - 5 yrs?
Ar you assuming that Wm & Eliz married before their children were born.  None of my lot were married before the birth of at least one child and ofter waited much longer.

Also have you extended your search into neighbouring parishes and maybe into the next county?

Hi bearkat,

Thanks for your reply. No, I didn't know that there was a brother George. How did you find this out?

Best Wishes

Hi Amy,
This family are in the book Comyn's New Forest, living at Boldre Bridge and  Battramsley.  Unlike most entries this one is rather short on info :(  (and of a later date, as most go up to about 1820).

Wm KITCHER & Betsy
Timothy 6 (Bapt. Boldre 7/12/1834)
