100 Years - Same Generation of Marriages
« on: Saturday 15 October 05 12:19 BST (UK) »
I was recently working on one of my rellie's lives - she was Mary Walker b. ca 1867, near Ticehurst, E. Sussex.  In 1901 she married Stephen Hinkley, b. ca 1852, Kent.  Decided to find out more about Stephen - he had married a Hannah Usherwood in 1872.  Imagine my surprise when I found out Hannah was 30 years his senior!
Hannah had been married before.  Her first marriage took place in 1849, to a Henry Sheppard Chittenden.  He was born in 1801.
I have not been able to find out if Mary Walker was widowed and married again or if Henry Chittenden was married before he married Hannah, but there is 100 years between the birth of Henry and his wife's second husband's second marriage!
I think this must be close to a record : ).

I think it must be Diana.  Also it sounds like Stephen could have been the original 'toy boy'  ;D Joan Collins eat your heart out  ;)
