Hi barbara

Do you have any idea as to his wife name?

If he was born 1790, he could possibly get married from about 1808 onwards.

There are no marriages of a William Manser in Herstmonceux after 1760 but there are a few after 1808 not to far from Herstmonceux.

Could any of these be the one you are looking for.

Beckley, East Sussex,  Date: 25 Feb 1808: William MANSER, Northiam & Ann COLEMAN
Waldron, East Sussex,  Date: 18 Sep 1815: William MANSEAR, & Sarah SIGGS.
Arlington, East Sussex,  Date: 28 Apr 1818: William MANCER & Sarah CROWHURST
Brighton, East Sussex,  Date: 26 Jan 1828: William MANSER & Emma HEMSLEY.
Wadhurst, East Sussex,  Date:  9 Feb 1830: William MANSER & Henrietta WELLER.

Remember there was no public transport in those days and it was even before the coming of the railway - so it had to be within walking distance, so my money is on the Arlington Marriage.

Once we have found the parents, we can start looking for the kids

Hi Chris,
Thankyou, for your reply it has given me more to go on, as I know my grandfather William Manser called his home Arlington after his gggrandfathers home in Sussex,so It is more than likely it is Sarah Crowhurst that was married to my ggggrandfather,so this should help me more. Thankyou so much again for your help it is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Barbara

Hi Chris,
Forgot to mention that all we have on William James Manser b 1790 he was married to a Sally which was usually shortened for Sarah. Also they migrated to Australia in 1839aboard the "The Duchess of Northumberlain".
Kind regards
Barbara
