Help 1901 census
« on: Sunday 22 August 04 17:28 BST (UK) »
Whilst on the 1901 census searching for Lily Longhurst I came across what could possibly be the girl I'm searching for. However her father is not listed, which is not surprisingly, but what baffles me is that her mother is listed as wife which suggests the husband is elsewhere at the time of the census. Under the mothers occupation it said

'Wy Of A Songhurst A Blacksmith'

Has anyone any idea what this means?

The mother is called Rose.

Amanda

I think it reads "wife of A Longhurst - a Blacksmith" .  In other words that was her husband's name and occupation.

Hope that helps.

Nell
