Have you tried checking the 1901 census at http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ since there are lots of Harlings (45 of them) in Lancaster alone.

You need to have an approximate date of birth for your Thomas and Sarah and if possible a date of marriage so that we can look into things further.

Mary Anne,
The only info i have :- Thomas Harling Married Sarha Pickford ,Lancaster 1903, not sure if he travelled from home to marry in the brides parish !, they had the following family, Bella, Annie, Jane, Thomas, George(my father B 1914, Dukinfield, Cheshire )& John, who died whilst a youngster, I was born in Hyde Cheshire, and some of my fathers siblings lived in that area also, so may be the family came from Cheshire area. Hope you can advise, Thanks Jacqui

Hi bodger

Do you have Thomas Harling & Sarah Pickford's marriage certificate?
If so, what age were they when they married?
What were their father's names?

If not, the reference is as follows:-
June Qtr 1903 Vol: 8e Page: 1507

Cheers
Genni

Using that reference you can order the marriage certificate online at www.gro.gov.uk - cost £7.

This will give you bride and groom's names, addresses, age, and occuapation, fathers names and occupations and two witnesses - hopefully they woule be relatives and help a bit more with your family.
