Durham Birth 1860?
« on: Sunday 23 October 05 16:11 BST (UK) »
Hi, can anyone help? I have an ELIZABETH APPLETON, possibly born 7.12.1860, with father EDWARD APPLETON. Mother unknown - possibly a WILHELMINA HODGSON, though I believe her to be a second marriage after Edward emigrated to Canada. ELIZABETH APPLETON believed to be born Leadgate, but I have come to a grinding halt. Also not sure whether she had any siblings other than 2 (half?) brothers who appear on 1881 Canadian census. Thanks!

Thanks Minor, dates certainly seem to fit, I just need to do some more digging now and see if I can get the other names to match in anywhere.

You know when sometimes you are on a roll, but other days you just hit a brick wall?  Well, I think my brick wall has certainly come at me with this family, don't know why.

Thanks again!

Were your Appleton family in Canada by 1881?

The Appleton family mentioned on the 1871 census were still in the Consett area in 1891.
