The parents of your William Evans Fewings look likely to be John Fewings and Elizabeth Evans. they were married in the Okehampton Reg District, March Qtr, 1860. Fewings is spelt as Fewins which is quite common. On the 1861 census they had two children John aged 1 and William who was 1 week old.

A lot of the Fewings/Fewins/Fuins etc seemed to be living in Mid Devon in the early 1800's. Your John seemed to say he was born in Monkokehampton around 1836/1837. His wife Elizabeth Evans was born in South Tawton approx 1840. In the 1841 census there is a John Fewings born 1838 in Monkokehampton with parents John and Jane and brother William. It may be worth making contact with the on line parish clerk as she has lots of info for Monkokehampton

A bit harder for South Tawton but there is a mailing list.

I' m responding to the search for Fewings. My grandmother and geat grandparents were Fewings. I don't know their first names. My mother and her brother ( aged 85 and 84 are still with us, so I can ask more: and i know my uncle has tracked the line  back several hundred years
My great grandparents - the Fewings  - built and then lived at Aberlyn ,Lynmouth, with five children:
Mary ( known as May - my grandmother )married George Huxtable  from Town Farm Countisbury; they later moved to Hall Farm Brendon which they sold in 1985 ish - daughter and son
Gertrude who married Roland  Freeston and lived in The  BungaLow next to Aberlyn daughter  ( died young ) and son Michael
Lucy who Married Neville Spong, no children
Edie who married - not sure, they lived at Heatherville , also built on Tors hill by my great grandparents. One daughter Lorna
Albert who married   ? with daughter Christine and son Brian , who is a Fewings and has two sons

On one correspondence I noticed Stanbury. My family are closely linked with stanburys at that generation - those who would be in their 80's now, by my grandfathers siblings George Huxtable was one of  ten or eleven.

I don't know of this fits with anyone searching for fewings; if this branch
is helpful I can find out more. Other members of my family have more information than I.
