The Russian War Memorial

An Oblisk (c.1877) raised

by Alexander II, as Grand Duke of Finland, honours 28 Finns who died of disease in 1854-7 at the redundant County Goal; also known as 'The Naval Prison'.

They were captured at the Baltic fortress of Bomarsund by an Anglo French fleet during the Crimean War
