Islay Birth/Baptism Records

I took Jack Puttenham files for Kildalton and Kilarrow and made some changes. First I changed all names starting with Mac to Mc. Next I changed all variation of the spelling of McFadyen to McFadyen. With these changes made I sorted the files in the order with the fathers last name, the fathers first name and the mothers last name. The first group of files will be presented with comma separation between each entry. Click on the entry below for each file.

In the old parish record (OPR) for Kildalton the name of the mother started appearing in about 1805. I added these mothers names to the records.

LDS transcribed the OPR of Kilchoman unto Fiche 6900481, Oa unto Fiche 6901116 and Portnhaven onto Fiche 6901115.  I transcribed these into files with the same changes as I applied to Kildalton and Kilarrow. 

The birth records for Kilmeny had not been transcribed from the OPR records.  I transcribed these from LDS microfilm 1041080.

LDS has transcribed all birth records for the years 1855-1875. These are available from the IGI as batch files. I converted these batch files and combined them for the following file.

Finally I took all of the above files and combined them with the same criteria for sorting. This file is not for the squeamish as it contains over 23000 birth entries for Islay up to 1875

Following is a presentation of the same files in Excel format. These are easier to search for those of you who have the spreadsheet. I think  they will work with other spread sheet programs but am not totally sure.

The following file cannot be used with the spread sheet that comes with Works. It is too long. This file is not for the squeamish as it contains over 23000 birth entries for Islay up to 1875.
