Monthly Nurse?
« on: Saturday 24 June 06 17:26 BST (UK) »
Hi, on the census record of an ancestor of a friend of mine, appears the term "Monthly Nurse" under occupations. We have looked very hard and cannot seem to read it as anything else! Can anyone tell me what a monthly nurse might be?! Thanks, Jo

P.S. It's nice to see something other than Ag Lab for a change though!

Hi, I've got a relative down as a 'Monthly Nurse' also. When i asked what it meant a couple of people here on Roots told me it meant she was someone who looked after a mother and new baby for the first month after birth.  Poli.

Noooo - if everyone found all that they were looking for with an internet search there would be no Rootschat  :( and then where would we be?
