No 15 Pit, Mavis Valley, 1913

I came across the death certificates of three people today that all died about 12 noon on the 4th of Aug 1913 of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Pit 15, Mavis Valley. 

There must have been a tragedy on that day, very sad reading. Does anybody know what happened?

The dc's relate to John Worthington (28), George Davidson (21) and Robert Ramsay (30), please let me know if anybody is related.

I've discovered that 22 men lost their lives in this disaster.
