Backbath - where on earth??!

Hello peeps,

Does anyone know where Backbath is? I have a Daniel Scott of Backbath in my family tree. I wasn't sure if this was in Gloucestershire but there is one reference to it on Google and it says Gloucestershire???

Hi Bee,

The Backbath you found on google was it about "Front Street" and it said that Benjamin Evans came from Backbath, well I've just checked on the other census and this Ben' was born in Bagpath in Gloucestershire.

So maybe the info' you have on Daniel could also be written down wrong, an easy mistake if it had be written down out of the county.

Bagpath is in the Stroud area of Gloucestershire, I hope this helps

Yes- I think you must be right.
Thank goodness the census enumerator wrote that down wrong all those years ago otherwise we'd be none the wiser!
