Edward Mongague Rogers lookup please
« on: Tuesday 09 January 07 08:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Wondering if some kind sole could do a lookup on the lincolnshire 1881 census for Edward Montague Rogers living in Grantham. Wife Annie and I know of at least one child Cecil G Rogers (would have been aprox 23 yrs on this census) I'm really interested in Cecil's occupation and need clarification if he is listed on the census as "pensioner (Capt Govt)"? ??? ??? ??? ???

Many thanks

Many thanks, Jane for your kind lookup. Seems to confirm my thoughts of Cecil Roger's occupation.

... and Edward was not just an Ironmonger ... "Agent Ironmonger Trade".

Isabel and Montague were at school in Manthorpe (Grantham-ish) in 1881.

There is also an Annie ROGERS 26 there - niece of the head of household - I suspect there may be a family connection.

1861 has a houseful of ROGERS children with no parents

Douglas M  (son) 8
Annie A 6
Henry M 4
Cecil G 3
Catherine E 1
Emily A DOUGLAS (niece) 15

All born Grantham

A HUGE thankyou to you all. You've given me so much more info than I could have ever asked for. I wonder why there where no parents listed for the 1861 census? They all seemed too young to be on there own and I know the parents were still around as Edward was listed on Douglas M Rogers marriage certificate (still living). Hmmmmmmmmm any thoughts? ??? ???
