First surviving census for County Tyrone is 1901. Not indexed so you really need to know the townland or at least the parish to get census records.
Church records might be useful. Need to have an idea of religion and area where they lived.

Everything fits as I know Eccles married a Martha Tombs and all the family were in Glasgow in the 1901 census. As regards the family most were born in Cookstown including my G.father George.

What else do you know????

Cheers, Bill

Eccles Lennox was murdered 17 Nov.1908. Had been working at Portage La Prairie for Grand Trunk Railroad and sent £500 home to wife in Scotland. Several versions of death, trial, etc. available on-line.

Manitoba records-
Lennox, Ecoles (this is spelling in index), died Nov. 18, 1908 Winnipeg, age 45 years, reg. #1908-003703 (can order death certificate).

Looks like certificate might gives parents' names, etc. but possibly only if person registering death there (police?, employer?) was able to provide details.

Other information might be available looking through links at Manitoba Genweb site.

Eicles Lennox died 18 Nov.1908, buried 20 Nov.1908 Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg.

Thought name like "Eccles Lennox" would be easy to search but there seem to be so many variations of Eccles!

Thank you so much for all your help but how did you know about the £500 sent home? I had been told that the murder took place in Glasgow.

The big question now is why was he in Canada...    and who with?

Cheers, Bill

Probably went to Canada to work- suspect he could earn more money out there and send most of it home to family.
For information on history of Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad see Wikipedia.
$500 sent home (not pounds as I said earlier) was mentioned in one of the links to the murder that I posted earlier. Wife Martha and 5 children mentioned same place.

Might be worthwhile to contact Bob Holliday who wrote the article (just last December) and see what additional information he might have which did not appear in his article.
