Although it is called the Photograph Restoration board, this board is "home" for requests and postings about

  • Photo and Document Restorations,
  • Photo Conservation, and
  • Photo Dating

Requests for Photo Dating

We have many experts on this board, some only do restoring, some only do dating, and some do both.

The Photo Dating experts don't look at all the posts on this board, so, Requesters,
it is up to you to make sure the Photo Daters see your request by giving it a recognisable title.
Hint: include the words Can someone date ... or When was ....
rather than just saying "This is Great Uncle Fred" Smiley

The Restorers also look at such posts;  they love the practice and challenge of improving images.

Unfortunately, the multiple images make the topics slower to load.
So for someone who really does just want a photo dated, it's better without the extra images.

Please note, the Daters/Restorers will sometimes enlarge or process parts of the image
to help the dating process, so apart from this,
If you do not wish your photo to be restored, please state this specifically in your posting.

When you feel the topic is now finished, please add the word *completed*
to the title of the first and last entries in your topic.

Restorers

Please respect the wishes of the Requester, if they do not want their images restored.

Dating requests are often put up in the Common Room, Armed Forces and other boards as well.
In these cases, or if in doubt, please do not do a restoration, without asking the Requester first.

Most problems can probably be resolved with Courtesy and Common Sense  Smiley
But if not, then please contact a moderator

Thanks  Smiley
