John MOTHERSOLE - Suffolk
« on: Monday 02 March 09 09:14 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping that some one may be able to help find any birth information regarding John Mothersole b  c1759.

I have been told that his parents could be Simon Mothersole and Ann Howe.

He married twice first to Martha German and then Elizabeth Rayner and they were both in Great Livermore.

Thanks
Annette.

Hi from one Annette to another

There are some Public trees on ancestry that show John with a birthdate of 10/9/1758 Suffolk (no place name given) son of Simon Mothersole and second wife Susan Wright.   You could try contacting the submitter via ancestry.

I can add a couple more Mothersoles to your list if it does any good.

An Alfred William Mothersole, b.1843 (railway porter, 1871 census), d. Sep 1872, married Mary Ann Wyand, b. c 1850,Thurston. They had two children: Alice M. Mothersole, b. 1870, and Alfred W. Mothersole, b. 1872.
Mary Ann married again on 8 Dec 1873 (I have the certificate): Aaron Ribbans (my great grandfather), who had just lost his first wife, Emma Southgate (1835-52) and had at least 12 children! Aaron and Mary Ann had at least another three:  Adelaide, b. 1875, Edgar, b. Dec 1879, Ethel Mary Ann, b. 1889. Mary Ann Ribbans, née Wyand, formerly Mothersole (my grandfather always called her "Mothersole"), died in 1915.

Hope this is useful.

The name of John Mothersole and the date 1750 is scratched large into a wall/pillar in Gt Livermere church. (see photo in Simon knott's website www.suffolkchurches.co.uk)
