Quakers Pendle Hill
« on: Friday 10 April 09 22:05 BST (UK) »

Did the Quakers keep any form of BDM records?

At least one of my ancestors is buried in the Quaker Burial ground at Twiston near Clitheroe.

It was when George Fox climbed the summit of Pendle Hill in 1652 that he had his vision . Many Pendle Forresters were attracted to join  him.

Hi James,

I don't know if this link to The National Archives site will be any help to you:-

http://www.rootschat.com/links/061q/

Item 7 on the page - Quaker Birth, Marriage or Death Records: 1578-1841.  Catalogue reference: RG 6.

If you are unable to go to the The National Archives in person, there is a standard charge for searching of £30.

Hi

There definitely are burial records.  I've used them elsewhere.  It's more a case of where these partiucular ones are.  You could try emailing Manchester Central Library.

Best wishes
