Thank you, you are more that helpful. It does all seem to fit into place so Robert was born in Bangor and died Pontypridd which also fits with the location of marraige and where Jane was etc.

I will look on free bmd now I have all this info. Thank you.

If I were to join paying site which would you recommend and can I lean on you to point me in the right direction i.e find out about Robert being in a bit of trouble during his military service etc?

Thank you

Jenny

No -Robert's birth was registered in Bangor district -he was born Llandegfan Anglesey

There is the town of Bangor -but the registration district of Bangor covers a much wider area. Often the mistake is made of putting p.o.b. as registration district.

A death reg in Pontypridd district doesnt necessarily mean it occured in Pontypridd - just somewhere in the registration district which is called Pontypridd

You can lean on all of us - you will find RootsChatters are very helpful.

I don't know where you are located -but most libraries have free access to Ancestry - if you can it may be worth popping into the library and "having a go" to see if you like that site

You can also sign up for a 2 week free trial - you have to leave card details -so if you don't like it then don't forget to cancel or they will grab your money.

There is also findmypast which is similar to Ancestry but the records they have vary- a little cheaper - each have their own good points

There is familysearch (known as the Mormon site) which is good  -and free - you can look at the 1881 census free and there are lots of other things

FreeBMD is of course free to use

GenesReunited - I am not very keen on that site -but it can be useful for meeting  people who are researching the same family as you-you have to be careful as people will take inforrmation and "alter it" -also some don't research their trees fully but just copy and so there tend to be errors

My advice would be to try out what you can for free -see what you like  to use - you can always ask for look ups on here if you get stuck. With a little more experience you will be able tofind out your needs and join a pay site you know will be good for you

Thank you for all your help. I have found the deaths for Hugh and Grace, now going to see if can find all the children or at least some of them.

I would try the library as others have pointed me in this direction but is very difficult for me. Son has home ed as disabled and LEA are unalbe to find suitable school. As have no family I rely solely on boyfriend who works full-time or childminders when needed. i will keep searching and hopefully find out as much as I can from here and the other sites you have mentioned.

Don't be afraid to ask on here.

Try to keep your posts on one topic under one heading -otherwise it leads to duplicate look ups (we all like to join in and help -but it can waste time if we are looking up the same thing)

You weren't to know

I have found 2 Robert Owen Parry military records

one is living in Barnsley (he's the naughty one )
the other lives in Mary St treharris -but he is married to nellie and has 4 children
Both are miners

On the marriage cert is Robert described as a bachelor?
