Hello Cando,
This site never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for this info.
I now know she did come to SA probably with her son & daughter-in-law, Val and Edith Allen who are my Grandparents.
I knew where they are buried and have been there to copy the headstone.
I also now know she was still in Vic in 1942 from your message.
I do have Ada & Josephs marriage certificate and it lists Adas parents as William Gaylor and Margaret nee GEE not Morris so maybe that is why the Tas BDM couldn't find her.
I wish all the States had the availability of Victorias BDM Historical.
I will  go to the transcript site and try for her death certificate.
Many many thanks for your hard work Rootschat searchers!!!! :-* ;D

I would mention that being enrolled to vote at an election does not prove that the person was actually at that address at the date of the election.

Ada had a sister
GAYLOR   Name Not Recorded  Female
Father William  Mother Margaret MORRIS
9 Dec 1863
At Launceston Reg#18/1864

This is the only death I can see for a William in Tasmania.

GAYLOR William
22 May  1876  75 years
At Launceston  Reg#3056/1876

Good resource for research in Tasmania

Information on death certificates in South Australia in 1945 is not very informative.

Thanks Cando,

I have Adas & Josephs marriage certificate and it states that she was 21 when she married on 24-2-1883 so that makes her born in 1862 in Tas.
They were married in Hawthorn Vic so she must have moved from Tas. They were still in Vic in 1902 when son Leonard died in an accident.
Val Roy  (son) b1896 Camberwell Vic,married Edith Goodall 1916, had 2 children in Canterbury. Then moved to Riverland SA where they had a son ,1925, daughter Valda (my mother) born 1932. When she was 15 they moved to Adelaide.
Joseph, Adas husband died in Merbein Vic in 1928 (probate notice in Argus)
Not sure when Ada moved to Adelaide but I don't remember my mother mentioning her.
Have sent for her Death transcript as she was only thirty when my GF was born and hopefully it will list any children after him.
Many thanks for filling  in so many blanks, even if I follow her no further, its more than I knew before by far.

The South Australian death certificate will not give the names or ages of any children of the marriage, only the number of children living or deceased.

According to her death registration, Ada was born c1860 and with birth registrations in Tasmania to unnamed female GAYLOR's in 1860 and 1863, I guess she could have been born either years.  Did you know about Ada's sister.

Victorian certificates are more informative.  Any children of the marriage are named and their ages at the date of the parent's death as long as this information is known to the informant.

If you were to purchased the death certificates you could possibly find the names of children, ie if the person had married.

The death and burial information on Reginald may not be yours.  His death certificate may give his place of birth.

I'll see what else I can find.
