Drowned in River Thames
« on: Saturday 24 July 10 17:32 BST (UK) »
My grandfather was found drowned in the River Thames at Lower Mall, Hammersmith in May 1918.  I have a copy of his death certificate which states in the "residence of informant" column - certificate received from C Luxmoore Drew, Coroner for London  Inquest held 20th May 1918.
I am trying to find out if there are any coroners reports still in existence for that area and if so where.  Also which local paper may have had an account of the drowning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What a tragic discovery. I would suggest emailing central archives and see if they can perhaps point you in the right direction.

Hi,

I too have a death certificate from C Luxmoore Drew (1906 in Poplar).  I contacted the London Metropolitan Archives but was told that they had none of his reports.   :(

Inquests were often reported in local newspapers.

Hi

I would check a local Fulham and Hammersmith newspaper. I have a drowning in the Thames at Hammersmith Bridge in 1898 which was reported in the Fulham Observer.
