In Need Of Help To Find Marriage Of Andrew & Mary
« on: Tuesday 07 September 10 14:51 BST (UK) »

 Hi

I would really really appreciate any help with finding the alledged marriage of Andrew Clement Jeff/Jeffs and Mary, ( whose surname i don't know ), it is Mary's name that i want to uncover as nobody in the family seems to have any knowledge of her, there is also the chance that there was no marriage at all though.

I think if they married it would have been around 1905 - 1907 possibly in the Wallisdown area of Dorset, they did have a child, Clement Andrew who was born on Sept 20th 1907 and christened on Nov 10th of the same year.

There have been some suggestions within the family that Mary's surname may have been " Carter " but as i said, i'm not sure.

 Regards

Hi

I wonder if this could be the Wallsidown area birth, perhaps the J stands for Jeff/s ?

Hi

Do you have them in 1911 - how long do they say they have been married and are there any other children ?

 Hi Rosie

Thankyou very much for replying to my post, that name seems very likely to be the correct one, i think maybe the  " J " could stand for Jeff/s.
Although he was born in the Sept qtr of 1907 would it be fair to say that because his birth was probably registered  the following month, his birth would show up in the Dec qtr of 1907.

Would i be correct in saying that the "Rogers " would be Mary's surname?

In the 1911 census Andrew & Mary had seperated and he shows up married to Minnie Ayres nee Smith living in Toddington Bedfordshire.

To be honest Rosie i'm not to sure if he and Mary had any more children, it all seems a bit mysterious why he left Mary and his child and moved from Dorset to Bedfordshire.

Well, it was the surname he was registered with.
I wouldnt like to make any more assumptions without seeing the birth cert - but it certainly looks as if it could be his mothers surname.
indexes for 1907 do not show the mothers maiden name, so we dont know if mum Rogers is married or single.

Just seen yuor last post - so where is Clement in 1911? what surname is he using then? Rogers or Jeffs? and he with MAry? what surname is she using?  Does she say she is married?

 Hi liz

Unfortunately i have absolutely no idea what happend to  the child Clement Andrew who was born in 1907.

Andrew Clement moved to Bedfordshire where he used his mothers maiden name " Ayres " he used this name for the rest of his life which i'm sorry to say was cut short due to him fighting in WW1, he died in June 1919

To be honest liz i've never seen the surname " Rogers " before Rosie posted a short while ago, that's why i'm wonderering if it's Mary's surname.

I've just done a quick search on freebmd and i found a marriage for Mary Rogers in Wareham in Sept 1906,
but i've checked Andrew's name in every way possible but can't find him to match it up with the entry for Mary.
