Adlington Milk Man

Does anyone have any information on a milkman his name was George Mead, he kept cows in Adlington Chorley and used to deliver his own milk, not sure of dates but I know he married in 1893 and he died in 1953 so it is between these two dates.

George was 85 when he died so birthyear around 1867/68

Are you looking for census info or info about his life as a milkman?

Was he born somewhere other than Lancashire?

He wasn't born in Adlington, he arrived in Adlington around 1891 from Nottingham and Married  Elizabeth Davies in 1893.

he was Born Sutton in Ashfield Nottingham.
Can't find anything about him as having a milk round.

Hi Hazel,
George Mead did deliver milk from 6 Ellerbeck View. IVY (my mother) his youngest daughter used to go with him with a milk churn on a horse & cart ladling out 1/2 pint in the morning and then going around again in the afternoon to ladle out another 1/2 pint. One of the horses they had was a Shire horse, a gentle giant called Dobbin, and the other was a Hunter who'd regularly jump the fence and run off down the field.
