George Jones Shoes Cumbria
« on: Monday 18 August 14 14:08 BST (UK) »
Hi, Back in the 40s and 50s there existed a shoe shop at the top (Town Hall end) of Dalton Road.  It was on a corner.  The owner, George Jones (a long lost uncle), lived most of his life in Great Urswick, next door to the pub. I wonder if anyone out there can remember the shop, or George for that matter? I am keen to find out when the shop finally closed its doors and what became of George.

Something of a long shot, I know, but any information or photographs would mean a lot to me.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi There

Welcome to Rootschat!  Enjoy!

I'm in Cumbria - I know this involved Lancashire at one time, but we have quite a few resources which cover Furness.  Do I assume we're in Barrow?  I'll have a look what I can see.  Any more details you know, the more the better!

Best wishes
