Locating a photograph
« on: Tuesday 21 October 14 23:54 BST (UK) »
Good evening,

I am undertaking research into my deceased Grandfathers history and I have discovered he was in the Army.

He served in the 14/20 Hussars from 1920-1927/30
And then re-joined the 2nd Hampshire Regiment from 1931 – 1932

I have just sent the forms off to the MOD for the service record.

I am trying to locate a photograph of him and the majority of places I have contacted have drawn a blank including museums. No family members have a photo of him.
Please could someone kindly point me in the right direction to possibly locate a photograph?

Many thanks

Official photographs were not taken of soldiers. Those that you see in newspapers during WW1 were provided by families after the soldier had died. The army relied on recording physical descriptions in case the soldier deserted.

Thank you for your reply.
That's a shame  :(
Is there any other avenues I could explore?
Thanks
